Larkspur in Polaris, written for David Nunn, is for a manual-crank music box that sounds a perfect fourth higher than written. The work can be performed as a solo music box work, or it can be performed in canon (up to four voices) with pre- recorded versions of itself (live performer with digital playback), or with multiple music boxes (two-to-four players). The work can also be performed in retrograde. Retrograde performances can also be solo or in canon (up to four voices).
