Program note:

Dedicated to Stephen Suber

Modal Flood Plainsong is in a short, two-part form that is designed to suggest a simple narrative of journey and arrival with an unexpected outcome. The piece explores modal harmony combined with asymmetrical rhythms.

It is a tribute, of sorts, to the state of Louisiana and its uniquely delicate habitat which is constantly barraged by the impacts of human industry.
