Program note:
The work explores ideas of collective migratory and movement patterns in animal flocks and how those patterns are infringed upon by human encroachment and development. The work integrates a pre-existing fixed media piece entitled Murmuration of Starlings in which different modular scores can be played with it to create changing performance interactions. Additionally, Euler’s Disk educational toys with mirror bases are spun by the performers at different times during the piece to reflect the changing nature of the flocking patterns described above.
