glyph-prisma i
Instrumentation: chamber orchestra
Duration: 5′
Program note:
This work is dedicated to the organizations, individuals, and allies within the greater New Orleans LGBTQ+ community.
glyph-prisma I is a graphic score comprised of three layers of visual material that can be arranged in different ways to create unique combinations of material to be interpreted freely. A single set of color fields should be chosen from the available options. Two overlay panels and two group panels should then be chosen to be used with the color field set. The specific combinations can be planned ahead of time by the conductor and/or artistic director(s) of the ensemble. Alternatively, the combinations may be chosen at the time of performance. The work is in two movements for a total duration of approximately five minutes. The length of the specific movements is unspecified, but the duration of both movements combined should last approximately five minutes. A conductor may cue beginning, middle, and/or ending points of the movements as needed.
The chamber orchestra should be divided into four groups that are assigned numbers: 1. strings, 2. winds, 3. brass, 4. percussion/other.
