Interruptions IV Program Note

Interruptions IV is part of a series of works exploring multi-faceted approaches to musical interruption. This installment, for prepared piano, involves a minimally prepared piano using coins, mounting putty, and clothes pins, as well as auxiliary objects (such as a glass vase) as performance implements. The movements are each named after 16th century maritime navigational devices. This work was written for pianist Bethany Wilhelm.
